We love stories and books that transport us, teach us about ourselves and other people, open up new ways of seeing and interacting with the world. We are excited by writing that is fresh and experimental. And we publish books that make a difference: personally, socially, artistically.

Planet Positive Publishing

Story Machine is committed to doing good. We strive to have a net positive social, environmental, and artistic impact. We are transitioning to Environmentally friendly energy and business practices, including how we print, distribute, and promote our books, and the way we source .

Our shorter books will now be printed by Seacourt – the most planet-positive printer in the world. They use a waterless and chemical-free process, 100% renewable energies, and direct zero waste to landfill. The entire printing process has no negative carbon impact, and actually offsets the entire carbon footprint plus 10% by investing in a ClimateCare programme delivering social, economic, and environmental benefits in Brazil.

We even print our books using the most low-ink fonts that are suitable to our style.

However, planet positive printing costs a lot more, and we can’t, at present, afford to print our longer books environmentally. We will do our best to keep exploring and pushing our environmental publishing as much as possible.

Submitting Manuscripts to Story Machine

We are always keen to hear from authors with a view to publishing your work and are always open for submissions.

However we do not accept full manuscripts.

If you would like to submit your work to Story Machine, please send a summary and writing sample (each max 2 pages) to hello@storymachines.co.uk. Submissions should be 1.5 spaced, use normal margins, and be set in a 12pt type.

We will strive to read and get back to you within 6 weeks. At this point we may invite you to submit a full manuscript.
